An Overview of Plastics’ Management in South and Southeast Asia

This note aims to provide information about current plastics’ management in South and Southeast Asian countries and its impact on trade and climate change. It maps ongoing policies and programmes by the governments to promote a sustainable plastics’ management and a more circular plastics’ economy. Challenges faced by the governments will be outlined, and recommendations on how to address them will be provided. The goal is to raise awareness about national realities and constraints faced by South and Southeast Asian developing countries in their road towards a more circular plastics’ management.
