CUTS International, Geneva, a research, advocacy and networking non-governmental organization on trade, development and related issues, regularly seeks interns to support its work. Since 2008, we have made a name for linking people and issues in the world of multilateral trade with their counterparts in related policy areas, such as agriculture, environment, digital policy, competition and consumer protection etc.

Our internship programme offers great job satisfaction in a highly motivating environment. The aim of CUTS' internship programme is to contribute to a strong next generation of international leaders, by providing them exposure and the opportunity to make their contributions to current trade-related debates through CUTS' influence.

Eligibility

In order to be considered eligible for a CUTS internship, the applicant must meet all the following criteria:

  • Be a student matriculated at an eligible university or training institute in Switzerland during the period of the internship
  • Be willing and able to be physically present in Geneva during the period of the internship
  • The applicant’s university or training institute agrees to endorse the internship by signing a three-way internship agreement (between the university, the student and CUTS).

Applicants who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered.

Compensation

These are unpaid internships. However, lunch and transport allowance are provided.

Duration

The intern is expected to be available for a minimum period of 2 months. There is no fixed maximum duration. Internships are conducted on a part-time basis (max. 15h/week) during university term time, with working hours accommodating study schedules. Full-time internships are possible during holiday periods.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidates would be postgraduate students in Political Science, Economics, International Relations or related fields, with strong academic background from an institute of good repute. They should be highly motivated, and willing to learn and contribute. Proficiency in both written and spoken English with good communication skills is essential. Knowledge of French will be an asset.

Work Assignments

The intern will be tasked with the following key responsibilities:

  • Research and writing assistance and inputs on issues related to ongoing projects;
  • Research and analytical assistance in relation to other activities of CUTS International, Geneva;
  • Assistance in the organization of events, meetings and other networking and advocacy activities;
  • Participation in and reporting on various meetings; and
  • Assistance in cataloguing & maintaining database & other documentation, and related administrative tasks.
