This briefing paper highlights key findings of a recent study on the role AfCFTA can play in harmonizing Africa’s national and regional approaches to harnessing the full potential of e-commerce. It draws some key recommendations to form a roadmap towards building a digital ecosystem across the African continent by exploring recent strategies and policies deployed or in process of deployment by a number of Regional Economic Communities and African Governments. Finally, it highlights the potential impact of the current e-commerce discussions under the WTO, on the continent’s policy space.
