This note brings recognition to the importance of involving the private sector in government consultations in order for trade policies to best benefit a country. The note uses Barbados, Brazil, Zambia, and Lao PDR as case stories of effective public-private dialogue (PPD) mechanisms, and provides suggestions to governments for successfully engaging in such dialogues.
