Agriculture remains the backbone of most African economies, including the East African Community (EAC) members, yet the job creation capacity of the sector has been underleveraged.
Although the agro processing sector holds much potential for employing the bulging youth population in the region, the main employment sector of these countries remains often informal . Many barriers prevent the youth from exploring opportunities in the agro-processing sector and hence the need for developing new strategies that will make the agri-sector sustainable and attractive to the youth.
