Integrating Gender and Social Perspectives into New Issues in the WTO

The objectives of the orientation workshop were to: (i) Inform delegates on the nexus of trade and gender and outline the gender structured gaps in the existing WTO rules-based trading system and recent efforts to address them; (ii) Discuss possible ways to integrate GESI perspectives into ongoing negotiations and discussion on new issues in the WTO; (iii) Raise a proposal to relate the WTO reform process and trade as a means to achieve SDGs and specifically SDG 5 which focuses on Gender Equality.
